Bananapple Oat Muffins

With two ripe bananas and an apple, I made this healthy breakfast treat.

It was moist, full of chunks of apple and had that lovely smell of banana bread.

It was also the first time I baked with yoghurt, so not sure how it would turn out. Oh, and I made the yoghurt myself! Not bad, eh? I used whole wheat flour, brown sugar, oats... Plus I only used 2 tsps of oil, so it's super healthy!

Caramelised Apple Cake + Home grown strawberries

I finally bought a candy thermometer! With this, i can now make candy, like marshmellows, caramel, toffee, fudge! Many, many yummy cavity inducing sweets =D But I brush my teeth regularly, so it's ok, hehe.

So to make this cake, I basically make the caramel, pour it onto a pie dish, layer apple slices, and top it with cake batter. And when it's baked, I turn it over and tadaa! Warm, sticky caramel dripping down the cake. And here are my home grown strawberries!

They are Japanese strawberries, which explains the small size, compared to the massive French strawberries. But they were so sweet!

Since it's growing so well, I can plant more and get a much larger harvest.

Birthdays!

My mother's birthday and my brother's birthday are conveniently two days apart. So whenever we celebrate, we celebrate them together. It is also less effort involved 'coz there is only need to cook a birthday feast once for two birthdays, hehe. And so I decided to make two cakes, one for each of them. First up: A pandan kaya layer cake that my brother has been craving. It's very unlikely to find a cake like that in Melbourne, so i decided to try making it for him. Couldn't get good close up pictures of it as there was no time, which is a pity. =( I spent the whole night making that cake.
Second one: A mixed berry cheesecake for my mum.
My cake decorating skills still needs to be improved... *sigh* At least both cakes tastes good~ ^0^ Thumbs up for both cakes from family. Will have to work on cake decorating some other time...

And here was the amazingly delicious spread of food we had. A banquet! Kudos to my mum who is willing to cook for her own birthday celebration, haha. I did help though.

Next post will be a chinese new year bake! Stay tuned =D
